International School of Solid State Physics - 92nd Workshop: Unconventional Computing: Materials, Science, Informatics, Hardware, Software

Purpose of the Workshop:

The International School of Solid State Physics (Directors: G. Benedek, G. Chirico e S. Picozzi) hosts the Workshop on Unconventional Computing (WUC).

Unconventional computing is a niche for interdisciplinary science, cross-bred of computer science, physics, mathematics, chemistry, electronic engineering, biology, material science and nanotechnology. This workshop will address principles and mechanisms of information processing and functional properties of physical, chemical and living systems to develop efficient algorithms, design optimal architectures and manufacture working prototypes of future and emergent computing devices.

The goal of this workshop is to discuss the current limitations of von Neumann-based computers and recent advances in unconventional computing paradigms to accelerate computational performance in terms of time and energy. The workshop is aimed at young researchers as well as leading scientists active in different aspects of UC to discuss the most important questions and find directions to answer them.

The scientific focus of the workshop will be on:

•     Models of dynamical systems
•     Physical reservoirs
•     Software
•     Applications
